Manhattan resident Jim Sharp served as sergeant of the guard at Germany’s Nuremberg prison during the trials of 24 of Adolf Hitler’s most notorious deputies.
For 6½ months, Sharp was responsible for posting and supervising guards at the prison that housed major Nazi war criminals during their 1945-1946 war crime trials. Sharp said he was contacted to verify the authenticity of a cell door from the Nuremberg prison after it was brought to Fort Riley a couple of years ago.
