Democrats in the House and Senate endorsed a package of public safety bills Monday to boost hiring of Kansas Highway Patrol troopers, ban transfer of firearms to people on federal terrorist watch lists and require elevated staffing standards at state mental hospitals.
Each bill was put into play for the 2016 legislative session that began in January, but none has yet to emerge from a committee.
