Eisenhower family agrees to memorial design, ending long-running stalemate

After a half-decade of disagreement, the grandchildren of President Dwight D. Eisenhower have agreed to support the design of a memorial for their grandfather near the National Mall in Washington.

The idea of a monument for Eisenhower was proposed in 1999. In the 17 years since, intense disagreements over designs have led to inaction.
