With 11 cases, Kansas draws upon federal dollars in Zika fight

Nearly a dozen people in Kansas have now been infected with Zika as health officials scramble to battle the menace, though virus-carrying mosquitoes have not turned up in the Sunflower State.

The federal government has funneled about $1.2 million into Kansas for Zika response and tens of millions nationwide despite Congressional gridlock over expanded funding. Officials hope the dollars will help prevent the small number of cases in the state from increasing.
