Kansas cancels five public meetings to gathering views on Medicaid

Kansas officials pulled the plug Tuesday on public meetings in Topeka, Wichita, Pittsburg, Dodge City and Overland Park to gather reaction to Gov. Sam Brownback’s imposition of a 4 percent cut to some organizations providing Medicaid services to patients.

The cost-containment package was part of an attempt to balance the state’s general operating budget because of unexpectedly weak tax revenues.
