The city of Manhattan urged residents to conserve and boil water Monday after a power outage overnight at its water treatment plant.
“We encourage you to only use water for critical matters,” the city said. “Please turn off irrigation systems and avoid using water for non-critical matters.”
The power outage occurred at 2:40 a.m. Monday, resulting in low waters levels within Manhattan water towers. The issues are indicative of high water demands in the area, the city said.
