MANHATTAN — An Aggieville icon, Varney’s, will close its doors June 30, ending a tradition that began in 1890 when Joseph Guy Varney began selling books to students of the Kansas Agricultural College.
In a letter published exclusively in The Manhattan Mercury, Varney’s owner Jon Levin announced Thursday that all locations of Varney’s, including Aggieville (623 N.
