A judge allowed a prosecutor on Wednesday to add two more witnesses to those being called to testify against Jonathan Robert Schumm just nine days before he is to appear at a preliminary hearing on allegations he beat his 12-year-old son.
Schumm, a Topeka city councilman, appeared in Shawnee County District Court during a brief hearing on Wednesday.
