Floyd Bledsoe, a former Oskaloosa man wrongfully convicted of murder in 2000, would be eligible for roughly $235,000 in compensation from the State of Kansas under legislation introduced this week.
Rep. Ramon Gonzalez, R-Perry, introduced House Bill 2611 on Wednesday.
The one-page bill would allow people wrongfully convicted of state crimes to bring suit in state court within two years of their release. Compensation is doled out using a formula in the bill.
