Kansas lawmakers adopt report on reforming K-12 education

The Legislature’s special committee on K-12 education reform Tuesday adopted an amended report bulging with ideas for development of a new formula for allocating billions of state tax dollars to public school districts.

Although the first draft circulated in early January was set aside for a rewrite, partisan differences on education policy were still evident as the final report was embraced by the Republican majority and with Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, D-Topeka, deciding to file a dissenting report.
