Westar Energy customers interested in going green and the potential to lock in energy prices for up to 20 years can take advantage of a new community solar program.
The energy company received approval from the Kansas Corporation Commission at the end of 2015 for the program, and Westar began notifying customers last week they could purchase shares in a solar garden to be built by the end of the year, Westar spokeswoman Gina Penzig said.
