Attorneys for dozens of school boards suing the state filed a court brief Tuesday countering the state’s latest arguments that Kansas’ funding for schools is adequate.
The attorneys reject the state’s defense of last spring’s controversial school finance law, which scuttled Kansas’ school finance formula and replaced it with block grants. Among their arguments, they say state aid for schools was already too low before the block grants, and that the switch to block grants cut school budgets further.
