Kansas resident Nancy Jensen’s harrowing experience shaped opposition to key elements of a U.S. House bill to overhaul the federal government’s approach to mental illness.
Jensen said the bill jeopardized legal authority relied upon to free Jensen from a Newton group home for adults operated by Arlan and Linda Kaufman, who had been physically and mentally abusing clients for years.
