Poultry are free to mingle again, because there haven’t been any new avian influenza cases in Kansas since March.
The Kansas Department of Agriculture announced on Dec. 4 that it would lift an order banning poultry exhibitions and events where flocks commingled. The order was issued in June to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza, which had cropped up in Leavenworth County.
