KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The American Royal equine show will move from Missouri to Kansas under an agreement announced Tuesday by Gov. Sam Brownback, months after consternation over financing hampered relocation efforts.
Kansas is expected to authorize the diversion of up to $80 million in future sales tax revenue to help pay for the show’s move to Wyandotte County. The incentive, known as a STAR bond, is being offered at a time when revenue coming into the state regularly falls below expectations.
