Something stinks in New Jersey, but that’s old news. What’s new is a super hero is about to emerge from the rot and sniff out the root of the corruption in Helen Hocker Theater’s presentation of “The Toxic Avenger.”
The rock musical, which opens a three-weekend run Friday in the Gage Park venue, is playwright Joe DiPietro’s and Bon Jovi member David Bryan’s stage adaptation of Lloyd Kaufman’s 1984 cult horror comedy movie of the same title and the winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical.
