A small child who suffered permanent brain damage and blindness after he was beaten as an infant in 2014 received a judgment of more than $109 million last week from the man accused of attacking him, in a decision handed down in Jackson County District Court in Holton.
The victim in the case, Romeo Whitebird, was just 7 months old when he suffered his injuries on April 18, 2014, at a Holton apartment complex.
Romeo, who was born Aug. 28, 2013, is now 2 years old.
