David Tegtmeier became fascinated with the chemistry of winemaking when he was 15 years old, and he planted his first vineyard soon after.
A seventh-generation farmer, Tegtmeier was the first in his family to plant a specialty crop, said his wife, Danielle Tegtmeier. The fascination didn’t fade, and after two years at K-State in education, Tegtmeier moved to California State University Fresno to study enology and viticulture.
