For the first time since 1936, two independent candidates are running for Congress in Kansas.
The Kansas Secretary of State’s Office said Thursday that Alan LaPolice obtained the 5,000 valid signatures necessary to be on the November ballot in the state’s 1st District. On Wednesday, it determined Miranda Allen qualified to run in the 4th District.
LaPolice is a farmer and educator from Clyde who ran as a Republican in 2014. He will face Republican nominee Roger Marshall and Libertarian Kerry Burt on Nov. 8.
