You could think of the Kansas Museum of History as the living and dining rooms of the Kansas State Historical Society. It is where they expect to entertain guests, and where visitors can see family heirlooms and learn the stories behind them.
However, not many families can show off every treasure for lack of room. Keepsakes, and necessary but not-so-special records, get squirreled away in attics, closets, storage units and garages.
