Explosive ordnance disposal technicians and military police determined that a suspicious package at Fort Riley’s U.S. Post Office didn’t pose a threat.
Personnel at the base’s post office, 5302 Ashby Ave., and buildings in the area were evacuated. The area of Normandy Road between the Army and Air Force Exchange Service Shoppette and the fire station on First Division Road was closed as a precaution, said spokesman Jason Roberts.
The scene was cleared around 6:45 p.m. and the roads were reopened.
