Drive-by shooter seeks placement in religious halfway house

A defense attorney representing a 34-year-old man with a history of violent convictions asked a judge Tuesday to suspend a prison sentence and instead place him in a faith-based halfway house.

Supporters expressed confidence in Todd Michael Hicks, but Shawnee County District Judge Nancy Parrish, who said she was troubled by his criminal history, sentenced him to two years and six months in prison for firing shots at a Hi-Crest home during a drive-by shooting.
