Sci-fi writer James Gunn has been 'Star-Begotten' since youth

LAWRENCE — Well-known Kansas science fiction writer James Gunn says he borrowed the title of his memoirs, “Star-Begotten,” from H.G. Wells, a pioneer of the genre.

However, Gunn said the 1937 novel “Star Begotten” isn’t typical of Wells.
