Attorney General Derek Schmidt asked the Kansas Supreme Court on Friday to rescind its warning the state’s schools may close if the Legislature fails to fix funding inequities.
A motion Schmidt filed with the court requests the court instead make it clear justices will ensure Kansas schools stay open. Schmidt requested the court withdraw its warning in order to “prevent harm to Kansas schoolchildren, their families, and the many Kansans who otherwise rely on having schools open and operating,” according to the motion.
