From Pancho Villa to end of World War II in Manchuria, Topekan's life chronicled in museum exhibit

Col. James Clark Hughes, a native Topekan, was a soldier in pursuit of Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa, then served as an artillery officer in World War I and fought the Japanese during the outbreak of World War II.

But Hughes’ most remarkable feat was surviving more than three brutal years of captivity in six Japanese prisoner of war camps stretching across Asia.
