Heather Johnson has grown tired of singing the same old tunes both on stage and off of it in the Ad Astra Theatre Ensemble’s production of “I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road.”
The 1978 musical, which runs through Sunday night at the Topeka Scottish Rite Center, 2300 S.W. 30th, reflected the outlook of its librettist Gretchen Cryer. The then 33-year-old divorced mother of two collaborated with composer Nancy Ford to create what many considered a musical with a feminist outlook.
