Gov. Sam Brownback signed legislation to advance implementation by one year a lid on property tax increases by city and county governments, officials said Tuesday.
The GOP governor signed House Bill 2088 requiring public votes on proposed adjustments in property taxes above a rolling three-year inflation average. A lid was passed by the 2015 Legislature, but that law didn’t take effect until 2018.
