Congressional candidate Alan LaPolice said Thursday he will run as an independent, not a Republican, narrowing the Republican field in the state’s most closely watched primary.
LaPolice ran as a Republican in 2014, falling short in his bid to unseat U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp in the overwhelmingly conservative 1st District.
It had appeared that LaPolice would run as a Republican again in 2016, making for a contentious three-way Republican race between himself, Huelskamp and Roger Marshall, an obstetrician from Great Bend.
