Legislators take pointed positions on simmering antler dispute

The Senate dug in its heels for the second consecutive year Saturday by rejecting legislation adopted by the House to force state regulators to release to a landowner a set of prized deer antlers poached five years ago in Osage County.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism has persistently opposed efforts of state politicians to rewrite state law in a manner stipulating the 14-point rack illegally taken on private property south of Topeka be released to Tim Nedeau.
