Being called one of the best photographers of professional hockey never fails to amuse Julian H. Gonzalez.
“I always laugh at that,” said the Topeka-born Gonzalez, who retired Dec. 28 after 25 years of shooting sports for The Detroit Free Press.
“Here I am from Kansas. I never skated. I never saw a hockey game growing up, and I’m a hockey photographer,” Gonzalez said.
