High school students demonstrated Friday outside the Statehouse against legislation that would direct transgender students to use the restrooms of their gender at birth.
The bills – one in the House and Senate – have so far not advanced and are sitting in committees, which have shown no signs of acting on them when the Legislature returns in late April.
Still, similar but broader legislation recently became law in North Carolina, sparking an ongoing backlash.
