Court: Neglect and meth, not marijuana, led state to take Raymond Schwab's children

In a series of unanimous rulings Friday, the Kansas Court of Appeals determined the children of Raymond and Amelia Schwab were taken into state custody because of “allegations of drug use, neglect and lack of supervision,” not Raymond Schwab’s medical marijuana use.

The rulings contain intimate details about life inside the Schwabs’ home, countering claims by the couple whose case has become a rallying cry for marijuana advocates across the Midwest. In interviews Saturday, the Schwabs dismissed testimony cited in the ruling as hearsay.
