The Kansas Senate voted to return to a committee Monday legislation dictating reallocation of state aid to K-12 public school districts in response to a Kansas Supreme Court ruling that found the existing system unconstitutional.
Sen. Ty Masterson, an Andover Republican and chairman of the Senate budget committee, said the bill should have been viewed as a "pure" answer to the Supreme Court’s perspective on equitable distribution of state tax dollars to education. The high court’s deadline for fixing that malady is June 30.
