Westar Energy’s secrecy regarding a potential sale of the company has so far precluded the Joint Economic Development Organization from stepping forward to try to keep the Topeka-based electrical utility in the city, though JEDO’s chairwoman said it is monitoring the situation.
Shawnee County Commissioner Shelly Buhler, chairwoman of JEDO’s board of directors, responded this past week to a question about whether JEDO and Go Topeka have taken any steps in response to a report made last week by Bloomberg Business.
