Shawnee County organic farmer Jackie Keller shared anxiety about potential fallout from chemical treatment of weeds Wednesday during a Senate committee review of a bill changing how Kansas designates and attempts to control invasive plants.
Keller, who grows feed grains on 200 acres for organic dairy and poultry producers, said the legislation unwisely shifted authority for weed control from state law adopted by the Kansas Legislature to state regulations developed by the secretary of the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
